Jersey kids know how to rock. I mean metal. I mean really. “THE FUTURE OF METAL HAS ARRIVED,” reads a sticker on the CD case, and rightfully so. Mutiny Within's debut album is promising and true to die-hard metal fans. The lyrics touch, crush and energize as they explore love, death, sorrow, nostalgia, wrath and other things that we hold near and dear. Unlike most of their musical peers, they happen to know how to enunciate properly, meaning listeners can actually understand what they’re bitching about. The aggressive shredding of the guitar combines well with the softer notes of the keyboard, making for a very pleasant ride—if you can call metal pleasant at
all.

Last Thursday, 01/07, RoadrunnerRecords.com and MetalSucks.net debuted the music video for Mutiny Within's first single, "Awake", and here's what AJ had to say about it:

First off, it was Bill's 24th birthday and Drew's 21st birthday...that's right...we went to a bar and bought Drew his first of many legal drinks. We did Jager bombs to start, and then had shots of Rumplemintz Schnapps. So good, so expensive...

But earlier that day, at approximately 1PM, our music video for "Awake" was released, and the response was overwhelming. We can't thank you all enough for checking it out and commenting. To return the favor, we have a "making of" video prepared, scheduled for upload soon, so keep an eye out for that.

The music video was filmed on Friday, November 20th, in an old, cold factory in Wallington, New Jersey. Produced by Bill Fishman and directed by Patrick Kendall, the day went exactly as planned...a 14 hour shoot! The crew was great and the catering was excellent haha. Also, the lead camera operator, Marc Bloomgarden, was the man, got great shots all day long.

It was really cool for us to finally see "Awake" come alive. Patrick's vision for the song was bang on and we couldn't be happier with the result.

In a 5-part audio interview on metalholic.com, Mutiny Within's bassist Andrew Jacobs runs through the band's salad days before finding English vocalist Chris Clancy, discusses the band's songwriting process, and goes through the album track-by-track.

Metalholic's Rustyn Rose writes, "Last week their first video for the single “Awake,” hit the internet. The song is an epic twisting sweep of heavy shredding, crushing blast beats, coarse and clean vocals, and soaring melody. Every element of all that is holy and good about heavy metal is threaded together in one 3:46 piece of ear candy. The best part is, “Awake” is only one of eleven brilliant mini-masterpieces on this debut disc."

The writer continues prefacing the interviews saying, "Founder and bassist, Andrew “AJ” Jacobs will be the first to tell you, the band he plays in today is infinitely better, stronger, and more mature than the one he championed even a year ago. Every member of the band is essential and elemental to their creativity, abilities and success. He is joined in his journey by his brother Brandon (guitars), Chris Clancy (vocals), Bill Fore (drums), Drew Stavola (keyboards), and Danial Bage (guitars)."
